Chemistry for CSEC CD-ROM Included By: Susan Maraj, Low Siew Hsien Query Book Chemistry for CSEC is part of a series of textbooks that are produced for the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) General Proficiency examinations. There are a total of 29 chapters in the book spread over the three major themes. Each chapter begins with trigger questions or interesting information related to the topic. The specific objectives are listed together with the relevant section to help students to focus on what they are expected to achieve after each topic. The chapters are arranged in accordance with the syllabus so that the content knowledge is linked and built up logically from the known to the unknown. The importance of chemistry, its impact on society and the environment and its applications to everyday life are amply illustrated throughout this book. Experiments are integrated into the text and also provided in a separate section (School-based Assessment) to stimulate student’s interest and to develop science process skills. Questions to test the understanding of the individual sub-topics are found throughout the chapter. Ample exercises in the form of multiple choice questions, structured and data analysis questions and essay questions are provided at the end of each chapter to test students’ understanding and reinforce what they have learnt.
